Capturing Baby's First Year Milestones
Baby’s first year comes with so many “firsts”– baby’s first tooth, their first steps, first word and so many more. This time is also filled with so many special moments, and though it may not seem like it at the time, time will pass so quickly. My job is to capture the sweet moments with your family and all the little details so that years down the road you can look back and remember these precious days.
With over 10 years of experience as a Houston newborn photographer, I specialize in capturing all of the important milestones in baby’s first year, from maternity through baby’s first birthday.
Natural & Timeless
I focus on natural moments, the connection between you and your family, and capturing all the details that make your little one unique. I don’t use a lot of props or unnatural posing. Using a combination of the wardrobe, lighting and styling, I create timeless photos that won’t look dated with time.
The Process
Moms are busy and planning a photo session can be stressful. I work with clients to plan everything, from what to wear, to how to get your kid(s) and/or baby to cooperate for the session. I have a client wardrobe for moms and babies, and I work with an amazing hair and make up artist that can get you picture ready at our Houston photography studio.

INVESTMENT
All collections include high resolution digital images. A $250 deposit is due at booking. The remaining balance is due at your session. A discounted rate is offered for Baby’s First Year Membership.

I’m Karla, a Houston newborn photographer with a light and airy, natural style. I’ve photographed hundreds of families over the past ten years, and the thing that has influenced my photography style more than anything is my journey as a mom. My two boys are now teenagers (!!!) and the photos I have of my family over the years are one of my most treasured possessions. As a photographer (and as a mom), I think it’s important to capture some pictures where “everyone’s looking at the camera and smiling” because I know that’s what you want to hang on your walls. But I also love capturing the unposed moments… the snuggles with your sweet newborn, the silly moments with your toddler. Because THOSE are the memories that you will love looking back on years from now. Take it from someone who is probably a few years ahead of you in this journey of motherhood… When I’m looking through my family albums, those are the pictures that make me smile.

I’m Karla, a Houston newborn photographer specializing in maternity, newborn and families. I started Brittany Avenue Photography (named after the street I grew up on) in 2012. The thing that has influenced my photography most is my journey as a mom. My boys are 10 and 12 now (how did that happen so quick?!?). Although I think it’s important to take some “everyone look at the camera and smile” pictures, what I value most (as a photographer and as a mom) are the unposed, in between moments… the snuggles with a newborn, the silly moments with a toddler. Take it from a mom that’s probably a few years ahead of you in the motherhood journey… those are the moments that make me smile when I flip through our photo albums. Brittany Avenue Photography is a Houston Newborn Photographer, specializing in natural newborn portraits either in studio or in your home. Our studio is located just west of Houston in historic downtown Katy.
We take care of everything for your session, from providing wardrobe for moms, everything needed for baby and styling for the rest of the family. Hair and makeup by one of our preferred hair and make up artists is also available at the studio. After the session, we have many different options to choose from to display your favorite portraits from your session, from framed custom art to heirloom albums.
We specialize in Houston newborn photography, baby photography, cake smash photography, maternity photography and family photography. Sessions can take place at our studio, in your home or at an outdoor location.
