Hi there! I’m Karla, the owner and photographer behind the camera at Brittany Avenue photography (named after the street I grew up on). I’ve been photographing maternity and newborn for around 13 years now. In fact, my youngest was just a baby when I was starting out as a photographer, and now he’s a teenager. It’s crazy how time flies!
I know it seems like it’s a long time away now, but one day your baby is going to grow up and you’ll wonder how you got there so fast. As important as these photos are to you now, I can promise that they will be more valuable to you with time.
My style is timeless and classic. I love bright and airy photos and neutral colors. I love creating images that are timeless and won’t look dated years down the road.
As a Houston maternity photographer, my job doesn’t just start and end at your session. Before you book a session with me, I want to make sure that I’m the right fit for you and your family. Houston Maternity Photographer- Frequently asked questions
I. Is there a discount if I book a maternity and newborn session?
Yes! Clients have the option of either booking a single session or a membership. If you plan to do two or more sessions during baby’s first year (including maternity) then it would make the most sense to book the membership. Contact me and I’ll be happy to send you all the details.
II. What should I wear for my session?
I recently wrote a blog post with tips about what to wear for a photo session. I provide wardrobe styling as a service for all of my clients. Once you schedule your session we’ll get started planning your session right away! I will send you a link to the dresses I have available in my client wardrobe for clients to borrow, and I’ll also send a Wardrobe Style Guide. (P.S. My favorite place to shop for maternity dresses is Baltic Born).
III. Is hair and make up included with the session?
Hair and make up is not included, but is recommended for the best look for your portraits. I have a few hair and make up artists that I’ve worked with in the past the I refer my clients to.
IV. Do you sell the digital images?
Yes, all collections include the digital images and the option to purchase fine art prints, albums, framed prints, etc. through my professional lab. While I know my clients love having the digital files, I feel that it’s important for all of my clients to have some beautiful professional products as a keepsake from their session.
When to schedule
I recommend scheduling your maternity session when you’re around 30-32 weeks. Be sure to contact me a couple of months in advance to ensure availability for your session.
