How to Prepare for Your Maternity Session
Once you’ve booked your maternity session, it’s time to start planning!
There are so many different styles for maternity photos, so first you need to decide what look you want. Once you decide on your outfit, then coordinate your husband and other family members’ outfits. Different styles work better for studio vs. outdoor maternity photos so I’ll go over a few different looks for each.
Studio Maternity Sessions
For studio portraits, some popular trends are to wear a fitted dress to show off your baby bump, flowy tulle dresses are also popular, and of course bare belly photos.
Fitted dresses in black or a light neutral color (white, beige, light gray) are always a favorite.
Flowy tulle dresses are another favorite. There are so many options on Etsy, and this gray one is from my client wardrobe:
For bare belly photos, a popular trend right now is to wear prepregnancy maternity jeans.
If you’re looking for a maternity photographer in the Houston area, feel free to contact us for more information about a session. We specialize in newborn and maternity photography in Houston and the surrounding area. Maternity sessions can take place either outdoors or in the studio.
The studio is located in historic downtown Katy and is located right off of I-10 so it’s easy to get to from most parts of Houston. It’s less than a 30 minute drive from I-10 and 610. The studio is a great choice for summer sessions so you can avoid the Houston heat and humidity (not to mention mosquitoes!).
