Questions to ask before you hire a newborn photographer
If you’re expecting and looking for a newborn photographer, there are several things to consider to make sure you pick the photographer that’s right for you.
- Style of the photographer- There are so many styles of newborn photography. Some photographers are very posed and use a lot of different props, while others are more lifestyle/ relaxed, natural posing. Be sure to look at the photographer’s galleries on their website as well as a gallery from a recent session to get a feel for the types of pictures you can expect from a session.
- What’s provided by the photographer for the session- Is wardrobe included? Many photographers provide wardrobe for moms, which is nice so you don’t have to worry about what will fit after having a baby. Is hair and make up included or does the photographer have a hair and make up artist they can recommend? Does the photographer offer heirloom products– prints, albums, framed art, etc? Does the photographer have studio or do they come to you for the session?
- Pricing- What is the pricing and how is it structured? Some photographers are “all inclusive” and charge one total fee for the session + digital images. If this is the case, make sure you understand how many images are included with the session and if there’s an additional charge if you want to purchase more images. Other photographers charge a session fee and then you purchase digital images and prints, etc. after your session. Be sure to review a full price list that includes the price for digital images, prints and any other products you may be interested in.
